Our approach

Our sustainability strategy is aligned under three pillars – People, Products and Planet.

Governance

Our governance framework is built on a foundation of accountability and responsibility, led by our dedicated Corporate Sustainability Committee. The Committee, comprised of senior leadership across various departments, plays a vital role in embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our core business strategies.  The Board provides strategic oversight, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and stakeholder expectations. Through monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement, we drive impactful sustainability efforts with integrity.

Integration

Integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our operations is at the core of Aviso’s corporate sustainability strategy. We have developed robust policies, including our Environment Policy, Sustainability Disclosures Policy, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Policy, to complement our other corporate policies. These policies are embedded across every layer of business and guide us in fostering practices that are ethical, responsible, and future-focused. Materiality assessments and a risk management framework that includes Corporate Sustainability risks help us address key issues and leverage opportunities for sustainable growth.

Climate Impact

Taking action on climate change is a core element of our sustainability strategy. We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint through sustainable operations, innovative solutions, and responsible resource management. By actively working to set science-based targets that will allow us to cut emissions, minimize waste, and champion eco-friendly practices, we aim to safeguard the planet and create a better future for generations to come. NEI Investments (a subsidiary of Aviso) already has climate targets in place.

DEIB

Cultivating an equitable and inclusive workplace is a fundamental part of our commitment to sustainability. We strive to create an environment where every person feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Recognizing that building this culture is an ongoing journey, we remain dedicated to taking meaningful actions to ensure inclusivity and provide the resources needed for everyone to succeed. This in turn will allow us to develop innovative solutions to the benefit of our clients and the communities we operate in.

Reconciliation

We are committed to taking meaningful steps towards Truth and Reconciliation. In 2025, we are actively developing a comprehensive Truth and Reconciliation Internal Roadmap to help us build trust-based relationships with Indigenous Communities, Peoples, partners and investors. The Roadmap will guide our efforts through education, awareness, and building an Indigenous community engagement plan and form the foundation of our next steps in 2026 towards co-creating a Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan in collaboration with Indigenous Communities.

Responsible Procurement 

Our Responsible Procurement Program underscores our commitment to sustainability by prioritizing environmental stewardship, advocating for fair labour practices, and cultivating a sustainable supply chain. Working with suppliers of medium and high criticality, we foster transparency and accountability in decision-making, and ensure our procurement practices create meaningful, positive impacts for both people and the planet.

Responsible Investing

NEI Investments is focused on producing strong financial outcomes for our clients, based on a disciplined investment process incorporating broad data sets, diverse perspectives, and a holistic view of investment opportunities. We seek to invest responsibly by considering all the factors that could impact companies’ viability, profitability and future value. We also engage with companies in our portfolios to help them become more resilient over the long term.
